About this fundraiser
Hello Friends,
Thank you for visiting our donation page. As many of you know, years ago, our son Sage was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome, a rare genetic condition. Since then we have been immersed in the world of special needs parenting.
Parenting children with special needs and disabilities often comes with additional stresses and hardships that at times can be extremely isolating. Many families are overwhelmed with a great deal of conflicting information and no clear guidance when receiving an initial diagnosis. Parents are craving support and a reliable source of information regarding available services and resources to help navigate the special needs and disability world. Connecting with other parents and families dealing with similar struggles gives a sense of community, solidarity and hope.
That is why we formed the Ohana Vitality Center. We want to provide much needed support and connection for parents and families in our community. Our vision is to create a brick and mortar location in Boulder County that can serve as a vibrant gathering place where we host our programs. In the meantime, we are offering a variety of pop-up events in the Boulder-Denver area and beyond.
We started this fundraising campaign to help us bring this vision into reality. Donated funds will be used to offset costs for our initial programs which include the following:
Happy hour, coffee and lunch gatherings for moms
Dinner and socializing events for dads
Opportunities for adventure such as hikes, skiing, and overnights
Educational/interactive events on alternative therapies by local practitioners
Regular information sessions and classes on topics relevant to the specific needs of our families
Respite care for kids during sessions/events as available
Caring for the caregiver - providing self-care opportunities for parents
Counseling and therapy resources for parents and siblings
Fun family friendly events with the needs of our community in mind - childcare support teams provided so parents can relax
